Norfolk Southern Corporation of Roanoke, VA is RGI's newest addition to its valued customer list. NS licensed RGI's GeoMaster U.S. and Canadian databases in order to support their highly automated order entry system and several other in-house developed transportation related operational applications.
Sabre Decision Technologies has incorporated GeoMaster U.S. and GeoMaster
Canada with its TRUCOM transportation management software. RGI compiled
a custom version of GeoMaster to serve as the "data engine" for
TRUCOM's highly advanced applications, including vehicle location. GeoMaster
will be used in both the TRUCOM package and service environments.
Alber Leland's all new 1998 edition of its Bullinger's Postal and Shippers
Guide for Canada will be supported by GeoMaster. "We are proud
that Alber Leland has chosen GeoMaster as a publishing support tool for
Bullinger's Guide since it's recognized all over North America as the 'bible'
of all transportation reference guides" stated Jerry M. Ragsdell,
president of RGI.
RGI will incorporate ISO-3166 geographic naming conventions in the development of a "unique" geographic place name code for the GeoMaster World Database currently in development. This will enable GeoMaster customers to map ISO-3166 spelling and abbreviation conventions to local spelling and abbreviations regardless of country.
GeoMaster Release 98.3 containing thousands of data updates will be available
to RGI customers in early March. In addition to all ZIP CODE changes through
the USPS's Post Office Changes Number 98-2, the new files will incorporate
all predicted new area code changes through December of 1998. RGI is a
licensed reseller of Bellcore's NNAG telephone data.
All new members of the Truckload Carriers Association, plus first time
annual meeting attendees, are invited to the TCA's "New Member Luncheon"
to be held at this year's annual conference at the Hilton Waikoloa Village
Resort in Kona, Hawaii. RGI is pleased to sponsor this event again in 1998.
For more details contact the TCA directly.
RGI's National Commercial Zone Directory 1998/99 edition will include Youngstown,
OH - Wheeling, WV - and Toronto, ON as commercial zone "Base Cities".
Even though Canadian cities are not governed by the U.S. Federal Code of
Regulations (which defines the formula for commercial zones at Part 1048),
RGI will use the same formula for the development of Toronto. The Directory
is available only through the American Moving and Storage Association (formerly
known as American Movers Conference) who is RGI's exclusive distributor
for this publication. For more information contact AMSA at (703)683-7410.
